Valpo Parks Foundation

The Valpo Parks are reflective of the community's vibrancy and are a visible symbol of the quality of life in Valparaiso.  The Valpo Parks Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, exists to support the Valpo Parks Department. The Foundation often serves as a catalyst to bring projects to fruition, capturing the spirit and character of residents working side-by-side to make our community even stronger.

Valpo Parks Foundation Celebrates Friends & Legends

The Valpo Parks Foundation celebrated Legendary Friends on May 2, 2019 at Butterfield Family Pavilion in Valparaiso. The reception celebrated all who have helped support the continuing legacy of high-quality experiences provided by Valpo Parks.

Special recognition was given this year to Sharon Swihart and Bill Oeding as “Legendary Friends”, and to Mayor Jon Costas who was recognized with the Park Foundation’s highest expression of thanks, the “Art and Irene Malasto Legends Award.”  Dr. Robert Behrend was honored with the Community Champion Award.  Costas, Swihart, Oeding, and Behrend embody the spirit of this community and sustaining quality of life for Valparaiso.  Each one of them merits the awards in their advocacy and actions where parks, and Valpo as a whole, are concerned.

The Valpo Parks Foundation is proud to recognize their partnership efforts as residents, business owners and statesmen of the community.
